mon: arrived back in asheville and i went and played pool with coby
tues: hung out with erica s. in the dorm and played monopoly.
wed: classes started, watched the wrestler with vince on my computer, then went to 80's night at broadways
thurs: went to dance night at new french with stephanie n.
fri: i had erica s. and her crew come and dance at my apt
sat: i ate frank's pizza, watched Box of Moonlight, played apples to apples with amy and girls at my apt, and went to a lame house show with coby and vince.
today i sat around and ate peanuts. hannah and azaria are coming over in a little bit. I've never seen Donnie Darko....so they are bringing that.

The blind people association might be a little too sensative.
I remember when I went to see Nick and Norah with Cat a few months ago, there were blind people protesting the movie Blindness outside the theater.

Saturday I saw the Charles Busch play Psycho Beach Party on campus. I didn't like it.
i think it's because i think most of the "laughs" come from "shock value". and i guess now living in the modern society it's hard to shock?
it tells the story of a girl who suffers from multiple personality disorder who wants to be an awesome surfer. that's the plot. the gimmick is that the girl is played by a guy.
i admit it's a demanding role and the guy delievers.
I didn't laugh enough to make it a successful comedy.
nor does the story stand up strong enough to be a good drama.
also in the play i was hammered over the head with a girl in the cast who comes out talking about Nitsche and other existentialistic issues and the lead is someone with a clear idenitity crisis.

since living in Asheville my appetite has gotten smaller.
i can't eat as much as i used to. At least I think. I dunno.

I'm going to a pawn shop to buy a television.

The other day I bought Patton, Godfather, and JFK on VHS for fifty cent each!!

At 5:45 Billy Wilder's Fortune Cookie comes on TCM. I gotta be home for that.

Perhaps I'll watch the VP debate for the lawls.
There isn't a new episode of the Office tonight. :(

while playing Capture the Flag I do not reccommend diving into cement ditches, especially if you are already stumbling and don't have enough room to make it. because it hurts like a bitch.

Anyhoo, I'm still alive.

Anna asked for my phone number and I hope she calls.
I told her to call me if they are playing any more games at Parks late at night.
But really I'd probably like to hang out with her sometime. I dunno.

Today was fun. Had a picnic at a different park.
Jeez it does sound like Asheville is made of parks.

I wonder how many times I can say parks in this journal entry.

Anyways, Emma, Zack, and myself went to a park ate lunch and walked around.
Then I watched my first episode of Firefly. I've already seen the movie Serenity.
w00t.

Then I went over to Ryan F's house and he had made some Egg Burritos. They were yummy.
We talked the stars, music, and our Ayden-Grifton past.
I told him how unimportant those years feel to me.

I borrowed Hook from him.
I loved this movie as a kid.
And recently me and Zack watched Jurrasic Park on television.
So I suppose I'm in an early90's Speilberg kick.
woo.

Labor Day weekend 2008, notta too bad.
Only one injury. I'm kinda sore. But whatevs.
Gotta see some friends and stuff and that was cool.

I had some friends from Greenville stay with me last night.
We also ended up going to the New French Bar and seeing a band that played at the "Turducken House" several times. The Summerbirds in the Cellar.
It was cool. They bought a lot of beer and now my fridge is full of nothing but beer!

Me and vince went to Wa-Ho this morning.

When I got back I went back to sleep and I was gonna meet up with the Greenville kids and watch ECU play.
But I was tired. And slept in.

ECU won though. on national television. so that's cool.

now i'm about to watch All About Eve.
And then return it to the library! :)

Then I'll probably hang out with Zack.

September 5th is the day I'll get the check. Then I'll get another near the end of next month.

I've been hanging out with Amy lately.
She's kind of difficult to hang out with sometimes.

Joe Biden is essentially the democrat's John McCain. He's white, old, moderate, and experianced.
So when you vote for Obama you get both candidates.

Now all McCain has to do is choose Condi Rice and he'll have Hilary, Obama, and himself rolled into one political package!

I finally ate the Tacos that Vince bought me last week.

last night in between Frodo gettin stabed and Indy surviving a nuclear blast, me and Zack hung out til about 3 am.
In fact, we fell asleep on each other shoulders! haha.
It was one of the incidents I didn't even realize my eyes were closed until they were opened.
Then when I was aware my lids were shut I saw plenty of colors and shapes and textures. It like sand and grass and pointy things. It was almost like I was on drugs but I was asleep/awake.

I came home and slept til about 9.
Then I finished Theremin. What an interesting movie! Whatta weird sound it makes. ANd what influence on electronic music!
Rob Moog who did the keyboards was inspired by! And he taught at UNC-A! cool,yeah?
The fact that Dr. Theremin was kidnapped by the KGB in the 30's and how obscure the Theremin became. But still was used by Hollywood in the 40's and 50's for Creepy Horrors and Sciend Fictions!
then in the 60's the Beach Boys used the instrument in Good Vibrations. ANd there was an interview with Brian Wilson, what a crazy guy!
The filmmakers found Dr. Theremin in Russia and brought him home at age 94 or somethin! And he reunited with his protégé Clara. but not his wife cuz she died, HE WAS KIDNAPPED IN THE 1930's! And wasn't recovered til the 1990's!!

so i get home today from class and my "roommate" has moved out!

wow, now i am living all alone.
I guess I'll have to buy a trash can.

Oh well.

Paul Newman's adapation of the TW play was really f-in good.
He trusted the material and his actors and I was really amazed how much of an emotional impact the story had on me considering how simple and small scale the whole thing is!
John Malcovitch and the entire cast is perfect! I think I sorta relate to the Tom character a little. And Amanda reminds me (but not really) to my mother.
I wouldn't consider AManda to be an evil being, as I originally interpreted. But instead being a loving mother who wants the best for her children. She is just overbearing!

When i first moved into the apartment the man checking out my place told me that the shuttle picks up people at the top of the hill.
so today i went to the "spot" to wait.
i remembered hearing that the shuttle comes every 20 minutes.
and just as i was about to give up and walk to class a bus came.
unfortunately it was a public transit bus and not a shuttle to campus.
AND i ended up in the middle of Asheville.

I missed my first class Playscript Analysis.
I did email my prof and he told me that I need to read The Glass Menagerie by Friday.
At the library I checked out the book and a Paul Newman directed 1980's film based on the play.

I met with Zack and we looked at big posters.

Thankfully, in my Women in film class there will be no required books to read.
And the first film we will be watching is one of my personal favorites of all time: Sunset Blvd! :D

I met this really neat girl named Kristin.

I had Elements of Production and the prof seemed nice and energetic.
But the class will probably be hard! Because there is a lot of ground to cover and it also involves building sets and setting up sound equipment!

My roommates g/f argued with me over The Dark Knight. a movie she didn't like because there wasn't enought Joker and too much Batman's gruff voice.
Fair enough.

Vince called and we went to Taco Bell.
He bought me Tacos due to my current fiancial problems under the condition I tell no more embarassing stories about his drunken times in Greenville. I agreed.
I showed him around UNCA. Then we came back to my apartment and watched the olympics.

When I got back I started reading Descartes for my philosophy class. Fell asleep. Heard some voices upstairs. Went out to investigate and I met my neighbors. Hung out.
they were shocked to find out that I didn't like Will&Grace nor Friends.

Do you think the Simpsons is a sitcom?

I say yes because most of their jokes are based off of situations.
What do you say?

rode my bike today. taking it slow.

my fiancial aid check won't be here til the middle of September.
I'll donate blood and use my final Rite Aid money for rent.

I won't be able to buy books. But i'll make a friend, use the library, and wing it.

At least I found wireless internet in my apartment :)

With a new city comes a new LJ.

silly college orientation stuff reminded me a lot of summer camp.
Skeptical of the Hypnotist.
Participated in my first drum circle.
Zack is a cool guy.
Watched Shine a Light with Uncle Mountain dudes.
Rode the bus, Ate Mexican, walked "home", talked/hung out with Allison and Stacy.
Dad crashed his bike at the Crown Plaza hotel.
Erica told me "I miss Greenville". (i don't yet)
Jeff already called me.

Sleepy.
One class t'row. AT 11.
